Some of you have known me for a while in person, but to those who don't know me, I'm Elaine J. I've been quilting for about 10 years, but only got serious about it 5 years ago. I'm originally from just outside of Halifax, but now live in the Ottawa area with my husband, daughter, and a cat.
I studied in photography and have always loved art. I find that quilting is an extension of art and enjoy the process of finding the right colours and patterns to go with what I'm making. I enjoy learning different techniques and can normally be found experimenting.
Woven Ladybug came about when I wanted to sell some things that I made and make patterns. A while back, my grandparents wanted me to paint ladybugs on the bumps on their tree. Ever since, my grandmother has given me ladybug themed stuff (there's a lot of ladybug themed things out there). She was the one who brought me to quilt shows as a kid and let me sit on her lap while knitting. Sadly, she passed away in the summer of 2022. I love ladybugs and how they remind me of her and her love for fiber arts.
